I just deleted 3 more inappropriate comments.

I really don't want to have to turn comments to "moderated," and since Melanie was aware of my comment policies and chose to ignore them completely, I banned her. I regret having to do that. First time.

Father Angelo,

I have enjoyed your Theology of the Head and Heart. Years ago, I went to a set of talks by a priest that were called "From the Head TO the Heart" ... they were very good but I never really looked at these teachings before as pertaining to maleness and femaleness. I've spent so much of my life trying to defend the intelligence of women and denying the uniqueness that we share and it's been a slow process to look at things from this holier perspective. Women are so afraid of being told that they're *less* intelligent or *too emotional* but really I don't think that's what the Church is trying to say at all. Our intelligences and emotions are created as a complementary gift. There really aren't clear lines that can be drawn as some would say ... we cannot say that ALL men are better at logical thinking or mathematics and ALL women are better at language and household tasks because we can clearly think of too many examples that deny this type of thinking. It comes down to the deeper longings of a person and what ultimately motivates and drives them to make the decisions they make. As you stated, we need women and men to accept this uniqueness to bring the other gender further along in their faith journey. If we'd stop trying to reject this and instead use our energy to live it, we'd be further along. Men and women would use their logical intelligence and gifts to help better EACH OTHER rather than to further their careers or what-have-you. It seems as though rather than accepting our God-given maleness and femaleness as being unique, women are trying to take on *maleness* and male traits and men are trying to take on *femaleness* and female traits. I think a lot of this 'sentimental drive' as you state is really some femaleness gone amock ... and men who have decided they need to get more in touch with this feminine side. Yet, women who can abandon their children and/or kill them in the womb have really abandoned all of those feminine instincts for the male drive to further their careers, etc.

Oh, we're just such a confused lot, aren't we? God has given us so much and we just cannot see the obvious.

BTW, no bike rides today! Way too hot ... think HEART ATTACK and HEAT EXHAUSTION.

Sounds like the Babylon Mystery Religion stuff I read years ago. It threw me for a loop for awhile and I finally decided that if I couldn't figure this out then I needed to leave the Catholic Religion. Needless to say, there are some traditions that were kept to appease people and renamed to have a Christian meaning. This bothers some Christians and at first, I'll admit, it bothered me. Take Christmas ... some say it was originally the Feast of the Solstice ... and that Christ was more than likely to have been born in the fall and not in December. Well, fast forward to today ... people come out of the wood works to do good works during Christmas. This is clearly not the workings of Satan but that of God. He turned things around to His glory .. it's quite clear to me! So, even if it weren't the REAL birthday of Christ ... well, SO WHAT??

Another way to look at it is to think of many of the Babylonian/mythology/what-have-you's as people's initial understanding of things that didn't become clear until Christ came ... even Mary as the Queen of heaven .. .the final ah-ha to all of the old *ideas*. Think of those times as that of a child and now, maybe we're more like an adolescent. Kind of like the initial explanations we give our kids before they're older and ready to understand the more complex meaning of things ... where does the sun go at night? How do our eyes see? The initial explanation may be that the sun goes to sleep for the night but years later they can understand about how the solar system works. Certainly as children we don't start explaining the nervous system and rods and cones and inverted images until much later!

Well, I don't suspect for a minute that you will probably care for my very terse explanation here and, quite honestly, I don't care to make it any deeper! (I don't mean that to sound nasty ... I just know that certain discussions go nowhere and some people TRULY want to understand what you're thinking is and others don't really give a hoot because they're convinced beforehand that you're wrong. We probably both fall in the latter camp!) Research all you want on this ...

Melanie,

I had to delete several more of your comments.

I am serious about what I said in my previous comment. If you have nothing to say about the post please don't comment and please don't discuss your private revelations here. Please read "Tower Decree" in side-bar.

Victrix is the feminine of victor, meaning conqueress.
